We are proud to sponsor Totally Oardacious

A long time Keto fan and client of Natural Ketosis, we are proud to sponsor the amazing Victoria as she gears up to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean - all whilst following a Keto Diet!!!

We will bring you more updates over the course of the year before the race kicks of but for now, see what Victoria has to say about her amazing plans.

In 2023 I set off to become the oldest solo female on the planet to row an ocean.

Crazy isn’t it. 3000 miles, solo and unassisted from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua. Just me, my 6 metre long boat and 85 days of food.  I can’t quite believe I will be doing something that just 25 other women on the planet have accomplished. But according to Guinness World Records, when I get to the other side I will be the oldest solo female EVER! I hope that blows your mind just as much as it does mine. I mean, HOW did ordinary little ‘me’ get to do something so extraordinary?

At this point I should probably say hello, I’m Victoria Jeffs, I’m the crazy lady who is rowing the ocean later this year.

But how did this once overweight lady get to do something so Totally OARdacious?

Why am I even rowing an ocean? Well, this is the question I get asked most often and the reality is there are lots of reasons which I’ll tell you more about over the coming weeks but in essence the main reason is I want to see what I am capable of. Have you ever woken up one day, knowing you are capable of so much more than you have previously been?  I want to know where my limits are and I want to feel life with every fibre of my being. I’ve reached the age of 55 and know I am still capable of SO much more than I have so far achieved, so sometimes you just have to be bold and put yourself out there and do something exciting.

Now I appreciate this is not exciting for everyone, but for me it is. I love being on the water, I love to open water swim, I loved to kayak, but I’ve never rowed before planning this adventure but hey, my row boat is bigger than my kayak so surely this is safer and with far less chance of being eaten by a shark in my view.

Oh, and I will be doing this amazing adventure as a keto athlete too. The row itself is unusual enough but add in the fact that I will be doing it ‘keto’ appears to be even more unique.  Having done 3 Ironman triathlons in the past, 1 as a sugar burner and then 2 as a keto athlete after losing lots of excess weight, I truly would not even contemplate rowing an ocean for somewhere between 50 and 80 days any other way but keto.

Although I am already 20 months into planning this mega adventure, there is still so much more to do, to learn, to master, to share.  Yet, it feels good to be so bold, so daring and so adventurous too. But I wasn’t always like that, I’ve been overweight, I’ve felt overwhelmed before, I spent much of my life feeling like I was the odd one out, that I was different, I’ve spent far too much time feeling like life was getting me down, worrying about what I can’t do rather than focussing on what I can do. I spent my first 40 years feeling like I was not enough. Or that the life I might have dreamed of was not available to me, but I was wrong, so very wrong. Perhaps you too can relate to that?

I’ve spent the last 15 years redressing that balance. Now, I’m really looking forward to sharing my journey with you over the coming year, not just about my row, but about how I even got here in the first place.

From a keto perspective I’ve been a customer of Natural Ketosis for about 10 years now and wherever you are on your keto journey I know you are in very good hands. Hannah and the team have created an outstanding array of fantastic products which have been a staple in my kitchen cupboards for years. One of my most favourite meals is the Sri Lankan Curry, it is delicious. Or on the snack side I love the Vanilla and Almond cookies.  What’s your favourite?

I hope you enjoy following this journey with me. If you have any specific questions do feel free to get in touch through the team here or on social media and I will endeavour to answer whatever I can.

Until next time

Victoria
